Community Supported Agriculture

Hey Chicks!!

I am so excited that I signed up for a CSA this summer! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, your buy a share in a farm, and in return you get a share of the harvest, which means a fresh box of local, most likely organic, produce every week! Depending on your family size, you can usually get a full share or a half a share. It’s a fab way to eat more local food, have different veggies to try every week and support local farmers. Some will even include farm fresh eggs and even flowers!

Unfortunately here in Calgary we only have 3 farms to choose from and it’s harder to find one. In Ontario, there are a ton of CSA’s due to better growing conditions. Here is a fab link I found to find one in your area. A larger investment now (think 4-5 hundred dollars for a full share which would do for a family of 4), will save you money and reduce grocery store trips for the length of the harvest season. If you want to get in on one for this season, now is probably the time!

I can’t wait til June when I receive my first delivery!
