Hey Chicks!
One of the keys that keeps me on track during the week is PLANNING! It only takes a couple of minutes once a week, and saves me a lot of time and stress wondering what to eat during the week. I generally eat the same few breakfasts, so that’s no problem to plan. Same goes for lunches. I always bring fruit, a smoothie and leftovers in my lunch. Dinners are what I need to take time to plan, or else I get home and end up snacking on whatever I can find, and don’t have a clue what to make for a meal!
Once a week, for me it’s usually Thursday since I am off work and do my grocery shopping that day, I take about a half hour to plan for the week. My meals are generally pretty simple – usually a lean protein along with some sort of veggies or salad. I think about what protein I have in the freezer (usually salmon, chicken or lean ground bison), and plan out a few meals based on those. There are also a few staple recipes like curry and stir fry that I do on a weekly basis, just varying the ingredients so I don’t get bored. I will also spend some time looking through some healthy recipe books or googling some healthy recipes. And I plan for a couple of meatless meals too.
I have a huge white board in my kitchen where I write down what we are having for dinner each night. I don’t always stick to it, sometimes I mix it up, but it gives me a great guide. Plus, I can delegate the cooking to my bf and he knows what to make! If it’s a recipe, I write down the book and page number next to it.
I always make more than I need for dinner and plan for leftovers, that way I have a fabulous healthy lunch to look forward to the next day!
So Chicks, this week I want you to try planning out a few meals. It may seem to take a while in the beginning, but it gets easier and saves you time later on.
Hope you all have a fabulous week!
Sis 🙂
