Hey Chicks!
So what are you eating on an average day? If you are anything like I was before I started learning about health and nutrition, I was loading up on fat-free muffins, white bread, pasta….tons of processed, non-fat crap….then I was wondering why I was GAINING weight!
Here’s the deal with white foods – and by that I mean white bread, white pasta, white rice, cakes, muffins, cookies…basically anything made with white flour – don’t have any fibre in them, they are stripped of nutrients (some are “enriched”, which means they take out the nutrients and put some back in), they raise your insulin levels, are high in sugar, and you can eat a TON of them and not really feel full. Not to mention they are all full of preservatives and chemicals.
For long term health and weight loss, you need to get the white stuff out of your diet. You can start by replacing the white bread, rice and pasta with whole grain bread, rice and pasta as a great first step. Eventually though, you will want to start getting your carbs through whole, natural sources. Ever see a bread or pasta tree? Me neither, so they’re not natural foods.
My kids love whole grains, they have never had white stuff, and eventually yours will too! The white stuff doesn’t appeal to me at all anymore. I know, it can seem like a huge step going from white pasta to quinoa with your dinner, but it can be done. Just remember to take baby steps. But the biggest first step you can make is to get the white stuff out of your house.
Good luck, Chicks! Talk to you soon!
Sis 🙂
