Introducing the fierce Christine!

After giving birth to her 2nd beautiful boy, Christine joined her first 8 week bootcamp in June 2013 looking for a fierce group to help her reach her goals!  Jumping right in to the chick groove with an awesome healthy attitude, she lost 9lbs, doubled her strength weights and inspired the rooster in her life (aka her husband) to get on the healthy train too….in only 8 weeks!

9lbs down, fitter and more fab than ever!

Take it away Christine…..amazing work!!!!

What made you decide to join FIT CHICKS and start on your fitness journey?

I had just recently given birth to my second child and was looking to find something fun and new to try to get back into shape. I received a flyer in the mail and thought that Fit Chicks would be the perfect way to achieve my fitness goals. I loved the idea that it was all women and that the classes were outside!

In eight weeks I have:

  • lost 9 lbs
  • lost inches for sure!  Not sure exact numbers, but I’m back to wearing my skinny jeans from my pre-pregnancy days!!
  • Week one I was able to do: 25 push-ups, 10 burpees, and 34 jump squats in one minute.
  • By week 8, I am able to do: 39 push-ups, 19 burpees, and 40 jump squats in one minute!

I have also increase the weights I use at boot camp from two five pound weights to two ten pound weights- I feel great and have so much more energy!!

Livin la Vida FIT CHICK is based on 4 healthy principles. How do you incorporate them into your everyday life:

Principle 1 – Fitness: Move Everyday…makes it a conscious choice!

I make a point now everyday to do an activity or exercise whether it be attending my Fit Chicks class, taking my sons to the pool, or working out on the treadmill in my basement.

Principle 2 – Nutrition: Eat real, whole foods made with love.

Since starting Fit Chicks, I’ve been very motivated to improve my nutrition as well. It just makes sense, and feels good, to reward your body with nutritious food before and after a workout. Together, the nutrition and fitness, have definitely given me a push start on reaching my weight loss and fitness goals.

Principle 3 – Wellness: Give yourself love

A big part of the decision for me to join Fit Chicks was that I’d be getting out of the house- without babies– for a couple of hours a week, outside in the fresh air and sunshine, just by myself. I love these two hours a week- they are the perfect time for me to re-charge my energy and come back home with a more relaxed and positive attitude. My sons love all the extra energy I have!

Principle 4 – Pay it forward: Spread the healthy love to those around you.

Since deciding to join Fit Chicks, my husband has also made significant changes to his lifestyle– he goes to the gym five days a week and has joined me in changing the way we eat. We encourage each other to eat healthily and exercise every day. He has been a huge help to me by finding new and delicious healthy recipes to try. It makes it a lot easier to stick to my new routine by having him join me in making these lifestyle changes.

Staying on a healthy track can be a challenge! How do you stay motivated?

I want to move every day, eat healthy and be overall more healthy so that I can keep up with the intense workouts each week. I love to challenge myself to be better at each exercise each class I attend. I have seen huge results so far- and that’s all the motivation I need to keep going!

Do you have a fave healthy recipe that you love?

A new fav recipe that I have is avocado and black bean salad with beef. The original recipe taken from Women’s Fitness magazine and tweaked by my husband and I:) Super easy and super delicious!

To make simply follow these 5 steps (ingredient amounts included):

  1. Cube one avocado and place in bowl, drain and rinse one can of black beans and add to bowl.
  2. Squeeze juice from one lime over beans and avocado, and add 1 tsp of chili powder and 1/4 cup of light feta- mix together.
  3. In a small bowl, marinade strips of lean beef in the juice of one lime and 1 tsp of chili powder.
  4. While meat is marinating, in a sauce pan, saute one small purple onion and one red pepper – add lean strips of beef to pan and continue cooking until meat is cooked.
  5. Plate the avocado and black bean salad onto plates and top with beef and veggie mixture. Top with fresh cilantro and serve.

What’s your fave FIT CHICKS workout and why?

My very first Fit Chicks class was a “Boxing Babes: kick boxing class- I loved it! It was high intensity, but really fun!

Any final words / advice for a chick who is just starting on her healthy journey and may be nervous?

I’m loving my experience with Fit Chicks- I love the comradery among all the members, the support and encouragement you receive from the instructor, and most of all, the amazing results! I will definitely be joining the next session and will recommend this boot camp to all the amazing Chicks in my life!

CHICK SERGEANT SHOUT OUT:

Christine has grown stronger and more confident in her abilities with each passing class. She always arrives early, smiling and ready to sweat! She encourages and motivates other Chicks in class by example and positive reinforcement. You can hear Christine throughout a session telling others to “keep up the good work”, “keep pushing, you’ve got this” and “we are almost there” to name a few. She has a strong focus and desire to push herself to do her best; you can see it in her eyes when we approach the end of a set. It is the look of ‘I’ve got this, I will keep pushing, I am not giving up’.
Congratulations Christine, you are a fierce and fabulous role model not only to the other Chicks in class, but to every one you meet. Keep up the great work!
Test your limits, push passed your comfort zone, set goals and go for them! No one said it would be easy, but I promise it is worth it… be the best version of YOU! Way to go Chick!!

Amazing job chick…can’t wait to sweat up a storm again with you next month!
