OSHAWA BOOTCAMP – Meet you Chick Sergeant!

Hey Chicks,

We love our FIT CHICK Family and wanted to share with you a little more about our team of fierce femmes, their favorite workouts & tips and how they began to follow their passion of spreading health and wellness. This week, meet the amazing Violet from our Oshawa Bootcamp!

FC – What made you want to become a Personal Trainer and/or a Fitness Instructor and Boot Camp Instructor with FIT CHICKS?

I was looking to join an organization where I could use my passion of training and help people reach their fitness goals. I worked at a gym for a few months but was unsatisfied because the main focus of training was to “sell” more sessions and this was not for me.  Unfulfilled, I started looking elsewhere and one morning I was reading the Toronto Star and read an amazing article on “FIT CHICKS”. I loved what FIT CHICKS stood for and was eager to join such a great organization which promoted women’s health. I immediately checked the website to see if they were hiring, and they were!

FC – Which location do you teach?

I teach at the OSHAWA Bootcamp location which is at Beau Valley Public School.

FC – What are your top 3 cardio and / or strength exercises to help women tighten and tone their trouble spots?

My chicks know how much I love burpees! (okay, sometimes I do not love them). Burpees are an amazing move that combines cardio and strength. My chicks are always amazed how many different variations of burpees we do! J Another favourite is the plank! There are so many creative exercises you can do with the plank. My third top exercise is the wall sit which is a great strength exercise for those legs!

FC – What’s your favorite healthy post-workout snack after a kick butt workout?

Protein! I love a good protein shake. I make up my own recipes which include coconut or almond milk, some fruits and of course a scoop of whey protein powder. A second favourite post-workout snack is honey Greek yogurt with fruit. Yum!

FC – What are your professional fitness certifications?

Canfitpro Personal Trainer and Level 1 Kickboxing instructor

FC – Other than being a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, what would you like Chicks to know about you?

Besides teaching fab chicks I also teach kids. My full-time job is a teacher! Just like being a FIT CHICKS instructor, I find teaching kids a very rewarding and fulfilling job and I absolutely love it! Another passion of mine is running. I started with a 5k and after that I was hooked! I have completed 2 half-marathons in the last 2 years and I hope one day to do my first triathlon.
