Hey Chicks,
Happy Wednesday – hope you are having an awesome day!
Today has been a dark, drizzly day in Toronto and all I have been doing is staring out the window of my office thinking about how much I wish I could just pack my bags, grab my passport and head on an adventure (and how thankful I am that bootcamps are indoors this month!). Even though I really love my city, I am a pretty outdoorsy chick at heart especially in the fall and this rain is making me stir crazy! So what have I been doing…googling more info on the next fitness goal I want to take on – hiking the base camp of Mt Everest (I bet you thought I was going to somewhere hot like Bali or Fiji!) It looks awesome!
Over the past few of years, I have really found a love for hiking and it is one of my favorite activites to add as a fitness goal. A couple of places I have trekked through so far include my 100km in 28 hours for Oxfam Canada, climbing to Machu Picchu in Peru, the Andes in Argentina, red rock mountains in Utah (these were amazing!) while at the Biggest Loser Ranch and one place that I love is not far from Mama J’s house in Ottawa – Gatineau Park!
(This a video from last year in Gatineau Park when I showed you chicks the Healthy Hiking 100’s Workout – I still love it and throw it in on my hike’s to spice them up!)
What I love about hiking is it only requires the cheapest equipment there is – Mother Nature, 2 feet and a heartbeat! Unfortunately, I tend to pick places that have a very expensive airfare to get me there (Kathmandu is over $2000!). I guess while I save my pennies for my next adventure, I am grabbing my umbrella and going for a stroll as I am only at 5400 of my 10 000 daily steps for the 28 Day Pedometer Challenge!
And if you have recommendations for great hiking trails or new fitness goals, please send them my way!
Have a fab day,
Laura xo
