Holidays don’t have to spell disaster to your health?

Hey Chicks!

With the long weekend here and turkeys being stuffed as I type it made me think of how stressful holidays can be especially when you are trying to stay on track with your exercise and food regime.

Here are 6 tips for staying on track even when there is more temptation:

1.    Follow the 50% rule – make half of your dinner plate be veggies and the other half split it between the protein and carbs. The veggies will get you filled up and keep you feeling satisfied longer due to their longer lasting fibre!

2.    Avoid the temptation of the appetizers! Unless you are starving and can’t wait til dinner time try to avoid the little snacks pre-dinner. Generally even if you have these you will still eat a full plate for dinner so try and hold off. Remember there is nothing wrong with eating only when you are actually feeling hungry!

3.    Add a little squat action into your day :) I love this one and I am thinking you will too lol – try instead of picking at food while you are helping in the kitchen or waiting for the food to cook – try doing 100 squats. This will get your blood pumping and of course burn a few extra calories instead of adding them to your day.

4.    Don’t forget the post workout bliss – make sure to remind yourself even though it is the long weekend to still get moving. Remind yourself how great you feel post workouts and this will hopefully get you up and at em. Try incorporating something like a hike, or family walk or bike ride to get everyone moving and spending time together.

5.    Remember to be thankful – everyday I wake up and go to bed being thankful for my health, happiness and life – try to think of what you are thankful for big or small and make sure you remind yourself of this as often as you can!

6.    Have fun and enjoy this long weekend – you deserve it!

Happy Thanksgiving Chicks!

Avoid, avoid, avoid!
PS One bonus tip – avoid the candied yams –avoid eating them, making them or even talking about them lol! Yams are great but when you cover them with marshmellows that spells disaster haha!
