Hey Chicks,
Happy Wednesday – I can’t believe we are already mid week again! Last night I taught my first outdoor Toronto boot camp class on the Danforth of the season and it was a doozy! Running hills, tree sits, walking lunges, field burpees – we were drenched in sweat, but you can’t deny the extra burn when you head outdoors. I always encourage my chicks in class to wear heart rate monitors to track how many calories they burn during their workouts. The highest calorie burn in my early class was 925 while my later class hit a whopping 1024!
That being said, while working out outdoors is great to ramp up your fitness results, you are now dealing with different elements so make sure you are prepared for the switch! And to help with that, products from FlexxLabs are always the one to aid.
TOP 3 TIPS TO WORKING OUT IN THE HEAT / SUN
1. Keep Hydrated!!
I recommend drinking approx 2 litres of waters during the day prior to bootcamp so you arrive already hydrated. Bring at least 1 litre during class and you may also want to have some electrolytes afterwards (like coconut water) to replenish lost nutrients. Hydration is really important as it prevents muscle cramping and recovery!
2. Wear Breathable Workout Clothes
Wear clothes that wick to keep you cooler or wear a sweatproof tanktop under your shirt. It will keep you cooler and much more comfortable.
3. You Gotta Wear Shades
I know this may sound strange but you want to protect your eyes (and prevent crows feet!) It will also help you see potential potholes or even doggy doo-doo which you want to avoid at all costs.
Have any tips that make working out outdoors more fun for you? Let me know!
Have a fab day,
Laura xo
