We are starting off a new feature on the blog – Meet Your Chick Sergeants! Every couple of weeks we will be introducing our fab FIT CHICKS bootcamp instructors from Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, starting with our newest recruits. Our first Chick Sergeant is Sarah, a new instructor for our Ottawa Hunt Club bootcamp!
FC – What made you want to becomed a Personal Trainer and Boot Camp Instructor with FIT CHICKS?
SJ – I have always had a love for fitness and this is a fab opportunity to work with and meet other women who share my passion for exercise. FIT CHICKS prides themselves on creating workouts and fitness class that are exciting, fun and different with workouts like high intensity interval training. It really allows you to be creative as a fitness professional and put your own spin on things!
FC – So you teach an Ottawa Boot Camp, which location?
SJ – I teach bootcamp in the Ottawa South Hunt Club location. I’m excited that FIT CHICKS has expanded its camps to the south end of Ottawa (its 5th capital city location!) Plus a have a fabulous group of Chicks for my first class!
FC – What are your top 3 cardio and / or strength exercises to help women tighten and tone their trouble spots?
SJ – I love exercises that work multiple body parts (called compound exercises) at once, you burn mucho calories by using more muscles which means faster results! My 3 favourite exercises that combine cardio and strength have to be weighted burpees, wall balls and overhead walking lunges.
FC – What’s your favourite healthy post-workout snack after a kick butt workout?
SJ – Post-workout is a fab time to get in a higher carb snack. If I’m at home I love to scramble up a couple of eggs and top them with a cup of blueberries. If I’m on the go, a green protein shake made with greens (spinach or kale), 1/2 banana, a scoop of plain protein powder and cocoa is delish!
FC – What are your professional fitness certifications?
SJ – I am a Can-Fit-Pro Personal Training Specialist and am also working towards getting my Precision Nutrition Certification to further help my Chicks lose weight and reach their fitness goals.
FC – Other than being a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor in Ottawa, what would you like Chicks to know about you?
SJ – That I am a mom of two little Chicks and I totally get how hard it can be to fit in fitness, healthy eating and family. It’s a daily struggle for me too, but you have to make yourself a priority!
