February Chick of the Month

Hey Chicks!

We are super pumped to announce our first Chick of the month for 2011 – the chicktastic Kelly Ferreira! Check out our awesome q&a with this fab female!

FC – How long have you been attending FIT CHICKS Bootcamp?

KF – I have been attending FIT CHICKS Bootcamp since August 2010.

FC – What have your results been like?

KF – I have lost about 22lbs since August 2010. That might not sound like much but that weight loss is a lot for someone who is only 5’2 (okay really I am 4’11 but who’s counting?). Anyway that weight loss translates into over 20 inches lost from my chest, waist, hips and thighs. It means instead of squeezing into my tight size 14 jeans, I can just throw on a pair of size 8 jeans (in the exact same brand) and breathe! And I have muscles that you can actually see and feel. It is ridiculous! I am not going to lie, I show off my biceps every chance I get.

On top of the weight loss, I can see how much my fitness has improved. I am not even remotely intimidated when Tara (our awesome FITCHICK instructor) tells us it’s time for a crazy skip circuit. Okay maybe a little bit – but only because they are that intense. And I love them! I can guarantee that I would not/could not say that 6 months ago. On top of that, the little things have improved. I can walk up a flight of stairs without being embarrassed that I am out of breath and I am actually trying out my first 5k this year. That was one of my many goals when I started and I think I am ready for one now. More importantly, when my friends suggest anything active, I don’t panic because I know I can keep up and maybe even pass them 🙂 You have no idea how great bragging rights are when you beat a friend at something that involves fitness!

FC – What were your top 3 goals for joining this program?

KF – My top 3 goals were:

1. Weight loss – and I am already half way to my goal.
2. Fitness – I have improved a lot and boot camp still pushes me every time.
3. Feeling better about myself- done and done!

FC – What is your favourite exercise?

Did I mention the crazy skip circuits? Love them and hate them. Love because I know they have played a huge role in the changes I have seen. Plus, you do each exercise for only a minute before moving on to the next one so I always feel I can push through it. It never gets boring and that is so important to me!!! And I hate them because…well you have to experience it to know. And of course squats and lunges (which are always part of the skip circuits). Same deal with them – I love them and I hate them.

FC – Did you find class to be inviting and accessible?

KF – Always. I never felt intimidated or like I was failing even when I couldn’t even complete a single rep for an exercise (thinking of the V-sits right now). My CHICK Sergeant, Tara, was always supportive throughout, which has gone a long way to helping me keep my motivation up. And classes are always accessible. If I couldn’t make it one day there was always another class I could attend.

FC – What is your definition of a FIT CHICK?

KF – Someone who works hard, doesn’t give up, is comfortable in their own skin and positive. Always positive.

Chickerrific work, Kelly! We are so proud of you 🙂

Want results like Kelly’s? There is still time to register for February Bootcamps. Hope to see you all there!
