A Fit Chick said to me…LEARN AN ANYWHERE WORKOUT!!!
There’s lots of times over the holidays when you can’t make it to a gym, or you are away from home and don’t have your equipment with you. But that’s no excuse not to workout! Like I said before, keeping up with working out will help you feel better, reduce holiday stress and encourage you to make healthier choices during the holidays.
Body weight workouts are fabulous because not only are they super challenging, but you can do them anytime, anywhere. So even if you are at a hotel or a houseguest, you can fit in your workout. I generally plan out a few bodyweight workouts before I go on a trip, or even to do before I go out for a nice dinner to get my metabolism going.
Choose from the following bodyweight exercises to create a routine:
squats
lunges
crunches
planks
push ups
chair dips
burpees
jumping jacks
Here’s a sample one that really gets me sweating –
Warm up by marching or doing jumping jacks.
Perform each exercise ten times with no rest in between
Squats
Push Ups
Alternating Lunges
Chair Dips
Burpees
Rest for 1 minute then repeat the circuit 3 or 4 times. Finish off with a 1 minute plank and some light stretching.
